On weekend, approximately at the same time, four famous Kazakhstani bloggers received a phone call. Voice in the phone made an offer that was quite stupid and unwise to refuse, that is to fly with Kazakhstani prime minister Karim Massimov to Baikonur site and launch a satellite KazSat 2 into space.

All four bloggers appeared to be clever and wise.

Phototrip with Samsung has come to an end. Our final report consists of the best pictures shot during all three stages, and also includes comments on cameras used during the trips and advice regarding some or other techniques.

For the first time Kazakhstani tennis players were so close to Davis Cup final. Last year Kazakhstani team battled into World Group for the first time in history by defeating Swiss players in Astana 5:0. This year our team strengthened their position as they won a match against Czech Republic. All this allowed Kazakhstanis to participate in Davis Cup quaterfinals, which took place from July 7 to July 9 in Buenos Aires. Everybody knows the result of the matches, but, probably, Vox Populi are the only ones who can actually show how it all happened.  
 

"Hello, my name is Oleg!"

Looking at the boy who has opened the door you could never guess that not so long ago he was diagnosed with a very grave disease. Since early childhood Oleg Klemenko has had problems with intracranial pressure. He was hospitalised several times and underwent some treatment. It seemed that all the problems were solved. Oleg continued to attend school and spent his free time like all his peers, i.e. playing football or some games on his computer.

Last Saturday you could have noticed unprecedented traffic jams from 10 p.m. and until 3 a.m. in four Kazakhstani cities, namely Almaty, Aktobe , Astana and Shymkent. They were caused by "Shopping night" organised by a network of the largest shopping centres in Kazakhstan, MEGA. Our photographers watched the event going on in the southern capital.

Expedition across Kazakhstan in the framework of "Phototravel with Samsung!" campaign continues. The team testing Samsung cameras EX1, WB2000 and NX11 set off to the third trip with a bit different line-up. Karla Nur who had to urgently depart for Mongolia could not join, but instead a team of 8 people gathered to have an unforgettable journey from Balkhash to Alakol.

Hemp as a plant has many uses. It is used for the manufacture of fiber ropes, making fabric for clothing, and even pressed oil for cooking and medicines. However, the cannabis is most famous as raw materials for drug manufacture. Although it grows in all Central Asian states, the most notorious was Kazakhstan - namely, Chu valley

After the first summer season of 2010, kyrgyz Issyk-Kul is ready to accept tourists again. Because of the climate peculiarities and the temperature of the water in the lake, the season has just started there. Voxpopuli has visited the north coast of Issyk-Kul in order to investigate how the things are going on there now.

Astana is being prepared to the celebration of 13th birthday today. As a tradition in a big way. The preparation for the celebration has started from the beginning of June and since then only the sounds of hammers and saws could be heard in the capital.
