They left to the front still being naive boys, and returned home as mature men. And only tiny badges, small orders and worn-out medals remind us about what they had to live through.

"How and what food to serve to a man?" - this is the question that rouses a lot of discussions, advice and debate. However, the fact that a well-fed man is kinder, more compliant, more content and happier is indisputable. A lot of men are real connoisseurs of home food, and some eve cook for themselves and their families. But very few men would deny a pleasure of having a juicy hamburger with fries. Especially when accompanied by friends, relatives or... a beautiful girl.

Looking at these portraits, you could probably imagine ever more clearly how our country functions and what worries it. The generation of 40-year-olds is that employed population of the country. It is these people that bare statistical reports talk about. They are energetic and successful in completely different areas. Strong women, left with their children in hungry 1990s, and men, who dealt with criminals, went to prison, and chosen a job as a taxi driver or the role of a preacher. They stepped from one era to another, have seen not one political and economic shock, but they still have their own dreams and even love that they had been waiting for for very long time.

If you add adopted kids, who departed to the US before and after this period of time, this number will be significantly higher. It is the duty of Kazakhstani embassy to check on Kazakhstani children in American families, but our reader Arsen Tugan from Texas decided to tell Vox Populi audience about the life of two children adopted by American parents 12 and 13 years ago.

They had unclouded Soviet childhood, and youth during the breaking point in history. The last pioneers, who have seen Artek, they grew up in the backyards during difficult and dangerous 90s. The same 90s with their democracy have brought them up to be free. But in that hard time it was hard to dream. And they really are different. Dance Muse Terpsichore is a demanding character, and complete commitment is not enough for her, she requires self-sacrifice. Dancers' whole lives pass on stage, and there is no time for anything else. They come here at the age of 10, still young children, and they depart... They depart - due to our law-makers - when they are over 60 years old.

Last year we showed two articles about Charity Ball: on preparation to this event and Cinderella, who participated in it. This year we attended the Ball again. However, we tried not to repeat ourselves.

This article is special for Vox Populi no less because of the fact that our photographer Kanat Beisekeyev is the main character of the story. He has recently turned 20, just like heros of The Kazakhstan Dream project, and he is the youngest member of our team and our great hopeful. Why a hopeful?
